“ Children Are Our Teachers”

When I was living in Lebanon it was always purely delightful and an education in movement to watch a little girl get up and dance. In family parties, there is always, it seems, a ‘little bright star’ that just loves to dance. The adults encourage her and everyone becomes totally inspired!

Usually one of the women gets a scarf and ties it around her hips..and off she goes!  The ‘Natural Movement’ of these little beauties is pure joy!

Here is a fantastic clip from an old Egyptian movie of a ‘Family Party’ with a ” Little Star’ that ‘gets the party started’ .. And Ends it!

What Fun!

After all that is what this dance is about..Fun…Joy…Beauty! That is the essence of dancing! Children are naturally in the spirit of dance.

This next clip was filmed by someone attending the Ahlan Wa Sahlan Festival in Cairo. This young girl got up on stage between the shows to ‘play around’… watch and learn!

 Fantastic!!!

What is interesting to note is the evolution of the ’style’ of Egyptian Dance. You can see the influence in these children of the current Oriental Dance Styles. The Child Dancer, Nahed Abdul Aziz. in the first clip, probably from the late 50’s, dances the ‘Samia Gamal’ style. In the next clip you can see the influence from the more current Egyptian Dancers trained and influenced by  Raqia Hassan such as Dina, Dandeesh and Randa Kamal.

We women can always take a lesson from these beautiful and bold young dancers. The authenticity of their expression is so powerful that everyone embraces the moment and becomes inspired by the beauty of their dance.

Speaking of Bold and Beautiful…here is a little Persian girl, Iranian, dancing for a party! What presence this child has! Enjoy!

Ladies, I just can’t wrap this subject of  ’Little Dancing Girls’ up without posting the all time favorite clip of the little Turkish girl dancing on Turkish TV…..

Perfect!   Bravo!!!!

To be inspired and inspiring we must let go of our sophistication…and allow our Natural Spirit to dance! It is through our authentic selves, expressed as feeling, that we experience and give the Joy of Oriental Dance!

THESE LITTLE GIRLS ARE DAHLING!!!! LOVE ‘EM!!!

Nothing so enchanting as a dolls dancing! Thank you.

Like I always say “Dynamite comes in small packages!”

Children are such a joy to watch when they dance. They put all of their focus on having fun and they don’t worry about drilling dance moves, obsess over technique, or worry about looking silly or imperfect. They just let go and get down!

so fun! we can all learn something from these girls–to be confident and uninhibited. great post!

That was fantastic!!!
